Commission rates for Premium listings

Payment for the sale of your Premium Listing depends on several factors, including where the domain name sells and the listing price.

GoDaddy.com

All Premium listings sold on GoDaddy.com, regardless of its price, are handled the same.

Sale Price of the Domain Commission Fees Payment Holding Period Paid Through
$0 - $5,000 20% ($15 minimum) 5 days + Payment Timeframe Payee selected when listed
$5,000 - $25,000 $1,000 + 15% of amount over $5k 5 days + Payment Timeframe Payee selected when listed

Payment Timeframes

After the 5-day holding period, how quickly you receive funds depends whether or not your payee account has a US-based address and was created after June, 2014.

US Accounts or Non-US Accounts Created Before June, 2014

  • Electronic (ACH) — Processed the same day and remitted within two business days, depending on your financial institution (U.S. only)
  • PayPal® — Processed the same day and remitted within one business day
  • Good As Gold — Processed the same day and remitted within one business day
  • Check — Processed weekly and mailed to you within 30 business days

Note: Starting Jan. 1, 2013, we will deduct a $25 processing fee from check payments.

Non-US-Based Accounts Created After June, 2014

Transaction times depend on the payment method you selected when you created your payee. You can view this information in your payee account (more info).

GoDaddy Auctions®

Payment differs depending on the selling price of the Premium Listing.

Note: With GoDaddy Auctions, the payment period is 5 days if the domain being purchased is registered with GoDaddy. If it is registered elsewhere, the payment period is 20 days to allow time for the payment to clear and the domain name to transfer over.

We release your funds on the 6th day. It might take up to five business days to submit fund to your payee if you selected PayPal or Good as Gold.

Escrow.com Details

When dealing with high-value items, it is typical to process the transaction through escrow (Escrow.com, in our case). The process works like this:

  1. At the end of the auction, the buyer submits funds to Escrow.com, which holds the funds in a non-interest bearing account.
  2. You receive notification from Escrow.com that the buyer has paid and details to provide them the domain name.
  3. You move the domain name to the buyer.
  4. Once the buyer has received the domain name, they notify Escrow.com.
  5. Escrow.com then pays you via check, ACH, or wire transfer.

Commission Examples

Here are some commission examples to help clarify the tables in the sections above:

  • If I sold a domain name for $3,500 now on either GoDaddy Premium or GoDaddy Auctions, it will cost me 20% or $700, no matter where it sells.
  • If I sold a domain name for $7,000 now on either GoDaddy Premium or GoDaddy Auctions, it will cost me 20% on the first $5k and 15% on the next $2k (to equal the $7k total), bringing the new total commission to $1,300 (20% of $5k = $1k and 15% of $2k = $300, so $1k + $300 = $1,300).
  • If I sold a domain name for $50,000 now on either GoDaddy Premium or GoDaddy Auctions, the commission would be $6,500. 20% of the first $5k is $1k, 15% of the next $20k is $3k, and then 10% of the remaining $25k is $2,500. $1k + $3k + $2,500 equals a total of $6,500.
